Responding to the Call for a New Evangelization
Evangelization was the purpose of the Blessed Mother's many apparitions over the centuries including Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico in 1531, Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal in 1917 as well as in apparitions during the pontificate of Pope John Paul II. Evangelization was also the purpose of Our Loving Mother’s apparitions at Conyers - to bring people back to Her Son, Jesus.
Pope John Paul II told us that evangelization is the mission of all Christians. He repeatedly called all Catholics to a New Evangelization, saying in 1999 that the mission of evangelization today calls for a new program “new in ardor, methods and expression.” People of faith who have been associated with Conyers have responded to these calls of the Holy Father.
Since 1991 OLMC has responded to the call to evangelize as an integral part of its mission:
Praying the Rosary for Peace
The tradition of praying the Rosary each 13th at the apparition site began on October 13, 1990, as requested by the Blessed Mother, and was an extension of praying the Rosary that occurred on the 13ths at Fatima. OLMC began hosting the Rosary prayer service at the Farm on September 13, 1991. In October 1998, this monthly prayer service became known as the Worldwide Rosary of Peace and it continues to this day.
Considering the escalating terrorism and the tensions between many countries coupled with the increasing destructive power of weapons and the misuse of technology, there is an overall false sense of peace in the world today that could be quickly shattered. If there was ever a time to pray the Rosary for world peace, as requested at Fatima and at Conyers, it is today.
